Module: File list

With the File List module you have the possibility to upload images and documents to Typo3 to include them on your website.

Module 3 - Manage folders and files (german only)

Module 3

To be able to embed a file on your Typo3 page, it must first be uploaded to the Typo3 backend.

To do this, switch to the FILE module on the left and click on File list. Select the appropriate directory and click on the Upload icon in the middle. You now have the possibility to select the file or files in an explorer and move them into the window, or you can use the opening explorer to select a file or multiple files by holding down the [ctrl] key. with the selection Open these data are loaded into the backend.

All uploaded files are available worldwide as soon as the page is published. Please make sure that no personal data or copyrighted images are uploaded and included on the page without the appropriate consent.

Note: The files to be uploaded must not exceed a maximum size of 32MB each and if umlauts are included in the title of the file, they will be automatically converted by the system. Example ä → ae, ü → ue, ö → oe

A file can only be deleted if the document is not used. As soon as a reference is visible in the backend, the file would have to be removed in the displayed element. Only then it is possible to really delete the file from the backend.

Once created, folders can be renamed, moved or even deleted by you later.

Note: Make sure that the files in the folder are not included on the website, as they will no longer be available on the page when the folder is changed. If you want to delete a folder, make sure that the folder does not contain any files, otherwise the folder cannot be deleted.

  1. In the FILE → File List module, click the image file in the directory tree that is protected by copyright.
  2. Click on the title of the image or click on the Edit icon.
  3. Click on the Metadata tab, under Copyright enter the copyright holder, e.g. "Uni Graz/cp-pictures".
  4. Save the changes to the file.

Note: As soon as you use pictures on your homepage which are protected by copyright, a copyright statement must be made.

If an image is to be used very frequently on the website, the alternative text does not have to be included in the image metadata of the element for each inclusion. Instead, the alternative text can be stored for all inclusions of the image via the File → File list module and the selection of the frequently used image in the Metadata editing tab.

Note: The alternative text serves as an image description for a barrier-free display of the image on the web page.
